With the recent earthquake in Christchurch it has made us all think about a few things.
I haven't got a survival kit at my house and I have been thinking about getting one for a long time.
Do you have one at your house? If so what is in it.

Ashlee's Pa (Grandfather) works with Civil Defence. He talks to us a lot about being prepared. We have a survival kit. It has non-perishable food (the year fours in Room 19 know lots about that), we have water, medicine, torches, radio, etc.....
ReplyDeleteNana and Pa also gave Ashlee and Caity a "Run Bag" each. This is a back pack. It has food, water, Caity's asthma medicine, warm clothes and information about who to contact if they're alone. This is great for if we have to leave home in a hurry.
I think it's fantastic that Room 19 are talking about survival kits! I hope that you all start preparing one at your home, and I hope even more that you'll never, ever need them!
From Kim (AKA Mrs Stevens, AKA Ashlee's Mum).
No we don't but we would like to have one. I also feel very very sad about the people in Japan. I wonder if they had survival kits. It wouldn't have been of much use as the big wave,Tsunami, would have swept it away. Maybe if you were holding on to it that would be okay.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a survival kit. We should get one and put tinned food; bottled water; torch and batteries; matches and a radio in it.
ReplyDeletewe do have the things to go in it but we dont have a kit

Wow, I am so impressed with all the comments on this topic. It's interesting to read that lots of families don't have a survival kit but need to make one. I wonder what we can do about that??? Talk to you kiddies tomorrow and remember to make a comment for a chocolate fish!!!

We've got some items in the garage ready to go in a survival kit like the water, camping stove, sleeping bags, torches and batteries. Must get organised with the rest of the items like non-perishable food, radio and clothes. Also need to sort out run bags (thank you Mrs Stevens for that idea) :)

Hannah does not have a survival kit but she would like to make one. We think that we might need in our survival kit - some batteries, a torch, plastic cutlery and unbreakable plates for everybody in the family, and also we need cups, and some non-perishable food. A jumper and a blanket and a sleeping bag would be good if you had them. You could put it all in a wheelie bin.
