AN EMAIL FROM SAM CLARK IN CHRISTCHRURCH...

Hi Tracey and Marlene
Again thank you for everything you did for Sam before Easter.
This recent quake was centred in our area-Sumner and caused so many more rocks to fall and now houses are broken on top of the rocks at the bottom of the cliffs some hanging off! It is very sdad as Sumner was such a beautiful place but now it looks like a war zone. Our house had more fracks and plaster fall off again especially around where the chimney was inside exposing brick but altogether we think it is ok-one of the lucky ones, we are sandwiched between the cliffs which have house falling off oneside and the collapsing community centre on the other and the rocks which landed on the man at the Rsa in Februaruy!
We lost power and water again this time but the power came on within a few hours for us so we were lucky. We have just spent 4 days without water, unable to wash properly, queuing for water, having top buy lots of bottled water, it is amazing how much you go through just cooking and washing pans, my supplies were soon used up! Anyway today we atl;ast gotv water through, low pressure and it has to be boiled but it is such an improvement to be able to wash clothes and have a reasonable short shower! Some people are still without water.
Sam's sister goes back to kindy on Monday and the boys go to school in REdcliffs and unfortunately because of the huge cliffs behind the schjool cant open but they are putting on temporary classes in a church in stages for each year group.
It was a big one again, we were in the doctors surgery when it hit with Sam's brother Aaron having earache the night before-he definitely had one now! THe poor doctor looked ever so stressed.
Anyway we survived and just wanted to let you know Sam is ok and says hello to everyone. The community and whole of Christchurch is battling through again. Thank goodness we didnt have all the silt and liquidfaction to clear-it looks horrendous. The aftershocks go on, some are quite a jolt with a force but  we live through it.
Sam often goes on the blog to see what is happening and play some of Maths games. HIs teachers have only just started a blog -room 10 rockers redcliffs school.
Hope the term is going well for you all, could you maybe let Mrs. Palmer-room 12 know Aaron is ok and says hello, maybe let her read this too. Aaron has come on so well with his writing and reading and often talks of her with fondness as his other teacher!
All the best
Rachel-mum, Sam and Aaron Clark from Sumner Christchurch
