Our Special Visitor - Graham Pollard (Former Zoo Keeper at Chester Zoo)

Today we had Graham Pollard (Eva's Dad) come to room 19 and 20 to tell us all about his amazing job as a zoo keeper. He helped us get a better understanding of what animals need. We now have more knowledge about Zoos and are beginning to understand why Zoos are important.
Graham answered lots of tricky questions too.

What did you enjoy about his visit and what did you learn?

  3. I learnt the story about the little boy falling into a gorilla cage, and the gorilla looked after him. I was amazed that gorillas are the gentlest ape and that humans are the most fierce apes. It surprised me because most people I know are gentle and kind, and people get scared of other things. I wouldn't have thought that apes would be so gentle and kind. I would still be scared to go up to a gorilla, even though I know that fact.

I never knew that Mr Pollard was a zoo keeper. It is quite amazing. I heard about new animals I'd never heard of before.

Thank you so much, that was a great experience. I hope you can come again. I could sit there for hours listening to you.

  4. The discussion by Mr Pollard sounded very interesting. I showed Uncle Rob this picture because he is very fond of gorillas and has many pictures of them he calls them 'King Kongs'. Also showed him your class picture which he thought amusing, Ella K. Have a good week. Love nanny Groome UK.
